SCOPE OF WORK:
Caltex Oil Malaysia Limited embarked on an upgrading of the following Prai terminal facilities :

Construction of new breasting dolphin for the main jetty.
- Repair, extension and addition of a new fendering system for existing boat landing.
LTE ENGINEERS was appointed as the consulting engineers for the above project.
The new breasting dolphin was designed for vessels up to 40,000DWT. 914 diameter x 19mm thick steel grade 50B piles, 508mm diameter x 12.5mm thick steel grade 50B piles and 350mm diameter concrete spun piles were designed for the breasting dolphins, fendering system and boat landing extension respectively.
Position, lengths and rakes of the piles had to be carefully designed to avoid hitting existing piles. The existing concrete structures of the threstleway, damaged by corrosion was repaired and decking replaced to take increased loading.
