E11R-B RISER PLATFORM TOPSIDES
CLIENT : SABAH SHIPYARD SDN BHD

LOCATION : Labuan, East Malaysia
CONTRACT PERIOD : 1993 - 1994
CONSTRUCTION VALUE : RM2 Million

SCOPE OF WORK:

E11R-B Topside was to form part of a riser platform for a gas field off the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia.

Sarawak Shell Berhad contracted Sabah Shipyard to build the topside which was later to be delivered to the offshore site by barge transport. LTE ENGINEERS was engaged by Sabah Shipyard to plan and design the procedure, structure and foundation for loading out the topsides from land on to the waiting barge.

The total weight of E11R-B was about 2443 MT. Two rows of skid beams were designed to sit on a skidway of adequate foundation capacity. The topsides together with the associated skid shoes were designed to sit on the skid beams.

During loading out, a pair of 300 MT gripper jacks were used to push the topsides along the skid beams. The system which utilized large traction forces to move heavy loads horizontally consisted of a double acting hydraulic jack an a pair of hydraulic gripper clamps.

Detailed engineering fo structural steel support were required to properly transfer the entire load of the topsides on to the skid beams.

Coordiantion between the barge ballasting and the tidal levels were required to ensure proper matching of wharf skid beams and that of the barge.
