SCOPE OF WORK:
As part of the programme to upgrade wharf facilities, the approach channel was to be deepened and stabilized to allow the entry of larger vessels to the wharf.
LTE ENGINEERS was appointed as the dredging consultant for the project. The original proposed dump site had been revised by the Marine Department to a spot about five kilometers away from the dredging site. From a study of the sub-sea soil investigation data, the most suitable type of barge was proposed.
A study was also conducted to ensure no slip failures would result for the sub-sea slopes. Grab dredgers was primarily used over the badly silted approach channel as well as for forming the slopes.
