SCOPE OF WORK:
SMG-A is one of earliest Shell platform in Sabah waters. Additional compression module was required to boost up the depleting gas pressure.
Sabah Shell Berhad contracted the conceptual and detail design work to KEMINCO. LTE ENGINEERS was engaged by KEMINCO to perform conceptual and detail design for the installation of the additional compression module to the existing platform.
The total weight of the module was about 400 MT. The compressor was purchased from Kawasaki Heavy Industries. The foundation and structural integrity of the existing platform was analyzed and checked against the new loadings.
The new module weight were not considered in the original design of the platform. Hence, weight shielding method was carried out to reduce the overall weight of the platform. Vibration due to the compression was also considered.
